Netflix’s limited series “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” stayed at the top of Nielsen’s weekly streaming chart for household TV through Sept. 29.
The series added almost 700 million viewing minutes from the previous week, reaching over 2 billion minutes (2.396 billion across nine episodes). It’s the first show to pass 2 billion minutes since Netflix’s Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F did it nearly three months ago (July 1-7) and only the seventh title in 2024 to reach over 2 billion minutes, hitting that level in 13 different weeks this year.

Like other Netflix shows, the “Monsters” audience got younger in its second week, with viewers aged 18-34 increasing from 23% to 27% of the total audience.

The COVID-19 pandemic changed movie release schedules, making it common for films to go from theaters to streaming in about 90 days. Disney’s Inside Out 2, which premiered in theaters on June 14, followed this trend by arriving on Disney+ on Sept. 25.

The movie became the highest-grossing animated film ever, so it’s no surprise that streaming audiences were excited to watch it. With over 1.8 billion viewing minutes, Inside Out 2 ranked No. 2 overall and topped the movie chart. Its viewers included a large number of kids aged 2-11 (42%), and almost as many adults aged 18-49 (41%), with Hispanic viewers making up 25% of its audience.
Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building stayed on the originals chart with 429 million viewing minutes (ranking No. 6) after releasing Episode 5 of Season 4. This quirky comedy has appeared on the chart 27 times, placing it 10th all-time among original streaming series.
Meanwhile, Netflix’s romantic comedy Nobody Wants This launched its first season, gaining 1.04 billion viewing minutes, ranking No. 3 overall and No. 2 on the originals chart.

Before its Season 15 premiere on Fox, Bob’s Burgers climbed to No. 4 overall and took the top spot on the acquired chart with 844 million viewing minutes. Fans seemed to be catching up on past episodes, especially Season 14, which made up about 11% of all Bob’s Burgers viewing.
Apple TV+ released its new movie Wolfs, starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt as professional fixers, on Sept. 27 after a short run in theaters. This comedy-drama earned over 300 million viewing minutes, placing it at No. 4 on the movie chart.
Netflix’s documentary films Jailbreak: Love on the Run and Will & Harper made it onto the movie chart, ranking at No. 5 and No. 7, respectively.
