Meghan McCain has publicly criticized Meghan Markle over the trailer for her upcoming Netflix cooking and lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan. In a scathing commentary, McCain took issue with the Duchess of Sussex’s portrayal of an aristocratic lifestyle in the promo, saying it contradicts her decision to step away from royal life.
The trailer for Markle’s series features her hosting celebrity guests such as Mindy Kaling, chef Roy Choi, culinary icon Alice Waters, and former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer. Markle is seen preparing meals in a luxurious kitchen with cheerful camaraderie, a setting McCain deemed overly indulgent given the current global climate.
There have been 2 terror attacks in 2 days, major wars raging, and Americans can’t pay for groceries. We are a country in rage, uncertainty, and intensity right now.”
In her critique, McCain remarked
She accused Markle of being “out of touch” and suggested the series feeds Markle’s ego rather than addressing pressing societal issues.
McCain also suggested that Markle could have used her platform to produce content with greater social impact, such as “bringing fresh food to food deserts in low-income neighborhoods.”
This is why the world doesn’t like you, nothing else. Just completely and utterly tone deaf to the moment.
She concluded with a biting remark
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry continue their partnership with Netflix, reportedly valued at $100 million. Despite McCain’s critique, the couple remains focused on creating content for the streaming giant, though rumors suggest Netflix has expressed concerns over their recent productions.
