Meera Syal was named Star Baker in Sunday’s episode of Celebrity Bake Off For Stand Up To Cancer.
Joining her in this episode were comedian Adam Buxton, actor Tommy Tiernan, and singer Self Esteem (Rebecca Lucy Taylor).
The show, aired on Channel 4, is hosted by Alison Hammond (50) and Noel Fielding. Each week, four celebrities take part to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer. The bakes are judged by Paul Hollywood (59) and new judge Caroline Waldegrave (72).
This week, the contestants had to make crumpets and jam for the Signature Bake. Then they tackled a Lambeth cake in the Technical Challenge.
For the Showstopper, they created either a sweet or savoury pie as a tribute to a celebrity who inspires them.
Meera stood out with her Showstopper – a Frida Kahlo-inspired pie filled with saag paneer.

Paul called Meera’s pie “unbelievable” after tasting it, and the judges later named her Star Baker. Meera said she felt “speechless” after winning.
Last week, Kate Garraway won the Star Baker title after getting the much sought-after handshake from Paul Hollywood. The popular presenter, 57, was left speechless when host Noel announced the exciting news following the intense baking challenge.
Almost in shock, the Good Morning Britain host said: “What?” as Noel, 51, handed her the Star Baker apron.
I can’t believe it! It’s the best day of my life.
Kate said, clearly overjoyed and trying to hold back her excitement on screen.
That wasn’t the only fun moment—Kate was also surprised when Paul gave her the famous handshake for her first bake.
Kate gasped: “Oh my God, I got a handshake!” then joked: “It felt like love – I think there was a moment where he had to unpeel my fingers.”
But her joy didn’t last long—she faced a tough time in the technical challenge.
Struggling with the mixture, she said: “Look at the state of this… you could tarmac the M25 with it. It’s just hopeless.”
As her jam became rock solid, she admitted: “I don’t think anyone’s gone from hero to zero quite so fast as I did.”
This came after the TV icon spoke about the “triggering” parts of grief during an emotional segment with Hairy Bikers star Si King on Good Morning Britain earlier this month.
She appeared on the ITV morning show with Si, 58, and opened up about the things that bring back painful memories after the death of her husband, Derek Draper.
Kate’s husband of 18 years, Derek, died at the age of 56 in January last year after a long fight with Covid.
She talked about the challenges of grieving live on-air with Si, who also suffered a loss when his close friend and Hairy Bikers co-star Dave Myers passed away in February 2024 after battling cancer.
