Marvel Rivals reached an amazing milestone with 10 million players in just three days!
NetEase’s free-to-play superhero PvP shooter launched on December 6 for PC (on Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. While Sony and Microsoft don’t share exact player numbers, Steam stats show the game’s huge popularity, making its launch a big success.
Marvel Rivals hit an impressive peak over its launch weekend with 480,990 players online at the same time. This achievement placed it among Steam’s top five most-played games and gave it the 20th highest player count ever recorded on the platform, beating popular games like Helldivers 2, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Destiny 2.
On Steam, the game has a “mostly positive” rating, with 76% of 35,000 reviews giving it a thumbs up. NetEase hopes to keep Marvel Rivals popular for a long time and make enough money to meet its goals. This can be tough for live service games, but Marvel Rivals seems to be doing well so far.

The game offers a battle pass and premium skins, and early results show that players are spending money. It’s currently the second top-selling game on Steam by revenue, just behind Path of Exile 2.
Marvel Rivals launched with Season 0, called Dooms’ Rise. This month-long opening season features 33 heroes that players can try for free, eight maps for Quick Match and Competitive modes, a Conquest map, and a Practice Range. According to NetEase, Dooms’ Rise kicks off the story about the chaos created by Doctor Doom’s time experiments, which have caused the “Timestream Entanglement.”
Season 0 of Marvel Rivals includes some exciting extras for players. There’s a Twitch Drops event where players can earn rewards, and an Entangled Moments seasonal event that lets you unlock sprays, gallery cards, and stories by completing tasks. Plus, as a global launch gift, players get a special code to claim a free Iron Man costume!
