Married at First Sight Australia fans were shocked after a groom made “nasty” remarks about the brides during Confessions Week.
Married at First Sight Australia fans admitted they felt “so uncomfortable” after a groom’s “nasty” confession in Thursday’s (March 13) episode. The 12th season of the popular reality TV marriage experiment premiered on E4 last week, packed with dramatic moments and surprising revelations.
Tonight’s episode continued Confessions Week, with couples taking part in activities designed to deepen their understanding of each other. Amid several photo ranking challenges, it was finally Ashleigh and Jake’s turn.
On their wedding day, the couple hit it off instantly and enjoyed a drama-free honeymoon. However, the mood shifted in tonight’s episode when Jake made several shocking comments while ranking the other brides, reports OK!
I’ll just try to be as honest and truthful as possible here,
he began, before ranking Jacqui last due to her “crazy eyes.”

Sierah… she’s got this sort of intimidating look to her, like her face screams, ‘I could stab you in your sleep’
he elaborated
In a particularly shocking moment, Jake commented on Awhina:
Not gonna sound like… not racist or nothing, but I do prefer Caucasian people mainly, mostly.
He then remarked that Rhi “might have a lazy eye” and ranked Carina the highest for being “conventionally pretty,” adding: “But she knows it, let’s be real.”
Adding to the discomfort, Jake placed his own bride, Ashleigh, in the middle of the rankings, leaving her completely speechless.
How dare you say these unhinged things about these gorgeous women? It can be honest without being hurtful and nasty,
Ashleigh fired back in a heated exchange.
Jake, however, defended himself, insisting it was “just a joke.”

That really p***ed me off. I’m not a naturally vicious person and you’re making it out to me like I am. I don’t need that s***,
Jake said, visibly agitated, before abruptly leaving the scene.
MAFS viewers were just as shocked by the comments, with many quickly taking to X (formerly Twitter) to express their outrage.
“What harsh words, Jake. That was nasty, not a joke at all,” one viewer commented, while another strongly stated: “Ah, so Jake is one of those “nice guys”—the type who believes he’s entitled to a woman while insulting, trash-talking, and spewing hatred at any woman he knows wouldn’t be interested in him.”
“Jake is a teacher as well. Displaying a shocking lack of emotional intelligence. And I hate people who say messed up things then call it banter or a joke,” another fan expressed.
Sharing the same sentiment, a fourth viewer remarked: “I have never seen someone undo so much goodwill and reputation as quickly as Jake has just done. Awful own-goal (after own-goal). And the AUDACITY of a man that looks like this!!”
