“This is the way.” The teaser trailer for the new Star Wars movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, has been released, with Ludwig Göransson (Sinners, Oppenheimer) returning to compose the music.
The award-winning composer previously created the score for the first two seasons of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian.
Set after the events of the show’s third season, the movie follows the New Republic as it asks Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his apprentice Grogu to help protect everything the Rebellion fought for after the Empire’s fall.

Directed and co-written by Jon Favreau, creator of The Mandalorian, with longtime Star Wars creator Dave Filoni, the film stars Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward, leader of the New Republic’s Adelphi Rangers, and Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt, son of the late crime boss Jabba the Hutt.

It will also feature the first live-action appearance of Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios, first seen in the animated series Star Wars: Rebels. After the third season’s release in 2023, filming was set to start that September. But after the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strikes, Lucasfilm rethought its plans for a fourth season and decided to focus on a movie instead.
The film is the franchise’s first big-screen adventure since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker — the last part of the Skywalker Saga. Following the success of The Mandalorian’s first season in 2019, Lucasfilm and Disney have focused on new Star Wars stories for TV, including the end of The Clone Wars and live-action shows such as Andor, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Acolyte, and Skeleton Crew.
The Mandalorian and Grogu will hit theaters in May 2026.
