If you’re watching Longmire, you’ll need to finish soon because the series is scheduled to leave at the start of the New Year.
Netflix’s neo-Western series Longmire, which returned for three seasons after its original run on A&E, will soon leave the platform. The show, available for streaming since 2017, is set to be removed in January 2025, according to a new notice.
Created by John Coveny and Hunt Baldwin, Longmire starred Robert Taylor, Katee Sackhoff, Lou Diamond Phillips, Adam Bartley, Cassidy Freeman, and Bailey Chase. The drama series aired for six seasons with 63 episodes from 2012 to 2017. It told the story of a Wyoming sheriff working to rebuild his life and career after losing his wife.

Netflix picked up Longmire early in its journey into creating original shows, after licensing earlier seasons from A&E. The platform added three more seasons, with the sixth and final season released on November 17, 2017. However, only Netflix in the United States streamed the series. While viewership numbers were never shared, Netflix Engagement Reports show the show still gets millions of hours of watch time every year.

Longmire was ahead of its time in many ways. Crime Western shows have recently become very popular, thanks to Yellowstone and its spin-offs led by Taylor Sheridan. Netflix is also exploring this genre with upcoming shows like American Primeval, aiming to tap into the growing interest in these kinds of stories.
The show has been on Netflix longer than expected. In 2021, it was predicted to leave in 2022, and for a while, that seemed likely. However, Netflix extended its streaming rights, keeping the show available for more time.
All six seasons of Longmire are set to leave Netflix on January 1, 2025. A message on the show’s page says the “last day to watch” is December 31, 2024.
Longmire is one of several Netflix Originals that might leave the platform in January. Another show, Lovesick, also has a removal notice. A full report on Netflix Originals leaving in 2025 will be shared soon, but for now, you can check a list of titles that have already been removed.
