Linda Hamilton, best known for playing Sarah Connor in the Terminator movies, will take on a brand-new role in the final season of Stranger Things. The hit Netflix fantasy series is set to wrap up in late 2025, with Hamilton playing a mysterious new character named Dr. Kay.
The 68-year-old actress has been in many productions, but she recently said that nothing compares to what she had to do for Stranger Things. While speaking with Coming Soon about her role in the Syfy show Resident Alien, Hamilton also shared a bit about her work on Stranger Things.

Though not much has been revealed, she said the experience was longer and more intense than what she was used to with movies like Terminator and Dante’s Peak.

Her comments hint that Dr. Kay will be a key figure, especially since she’ll appear in every episode of Season 5.
Comment 1: We took a year to shoot eight episodes, so I’ve never been on a project for a year. Six months is the biggest. Terminator, Dante’s Peak, things like that used to be six-month shoots, and hardly anybody does that anymore.
Comment 2: So that was really interesting. Like ready to pounce, to just nail the character in the way that she deserved. They started with all my big scenes, my first week in. I mean, I was there getting ready before that, but my first week of shooting was huge. I looked at what they were on the schedule, and I was like, ‘No way are we doing that. I haven’t even spoken words from the character yet.’
Comment 3: I realized that every single day they shoot, it’s that huge. Do you know what I mean? I was like, ‘This has to be a partial because there’s no way they’re going for these entire stunts, special effects, big acting, lots of character stuff.’ And that’s my first day, because every day that they shoot, they have big scenes like that.
Stranger Things will return to Netflix in late 2025 for its fifth and final season. The last season of the fantasy show will have eight episodes, which will be released in this order: four episodes on November 26, three episodes on December 25, and the final episode will come out on December 31. Season 5 is set in the year 1987, and the official synopsis is as follows:
Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.
