Honestly, Netflix doesn’t really need a holiday hit to show off its huge collection of content since it adds new things all the time. But the platform knows how to pick the perfect time to release something, especially when it comes to Christmas content like Carry-On.
After the big success of Carry-On, Netflix is keeping the holiday spirit going with another crime thriller from director Jaume Collet-Serra to add even more excitement and thrills to the season.
As 2024 comes to an end, Netflix isn’t slowing down with its holiday content. They’ve added some exciting new titles, including Jaume Collet-Serra’s Run All Night, which was released in early December to keep the crime-thriller action going. This 2015 movie, written by Brad Ingelsby, stars Liam Neeson, Joel Kinnaman, Common, and Ed Harris, making it a perfect pick for an action-packed holiday season.
Run All Night is the third movie where Collet-Serra and Neeson team up, following Unknown and Non-Stop. The film tells the story of an Irish mob veteran who is on the run with his estranged son after being forced to kill a mob boss’ son.

It earned $71.6 million, with a budget of $50-61.6 million. While action thrillers might not be what fans usually expect for the holidays, Carry-On offers something different, and Run All Night adds to the “Chrismaction” excitement, as Sofia Carson calls it.
According to What’s On Netflix, Jaume Collet-Serra’s holiday movie, Carry-On, had the biggest opening week of 2024 on Netflix, reaching an incredible 42 million views. The Christmas thriller topped the Top 10 movie charts worldwide, including in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Germany, India, Mexico, New Zealand, and Spain on December 17. It also claimed the #1 spot on the Global Top 25 Movies list.
