Kyla Ashman will no longer be joining the Love Island UK villa, just hours after ITV2 announced the cast for the summer 2025 season.
Although Ashman was initially confirmed as one of the Islanders set to appear on the dating show hosted by Maya Jama, a past incident led producers to pull him from the lineup.
For personal reasons, Kyle will not be entering the Love Island Villa as planned,
ITV said in a statement to Deadline
Deadline confirmed that none of the Islanders have entered the villa in Mallorca yet, and Ashman’s removal won’t impact the show. Several reports suggest Ashman was linked to a machete attack. According to The Sun, he was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident. Ashman, however, has denied any connection to it in a statement.
I fully cooperated with this police investigation and made it very clear that I had no involvement in this incident, I am not a violent person, and any suggestion otherwise is a mischaracterisation.
he said in a statement
According to The Sun, the incident occurred in February when “masked thugs stormed a wake in Stafford and hacked at a dad,” who was reportedly close to losing his arm. Others were also injured—one person was glassed, another hit with a metal pole, and two were run over by a car.
Ashman, a 23-year-old water operative from Stafford, was one of two suspects questioned in connection with the attack.
ITV was reportedly unaware of the incident until it was brought to their attention by the press, leading to the decision to cut ties with Ashman.
Love Island UK Season 12 is set to premiere in the UK on Monday, June 9 at 9 p.m. on ITV2, and in the U.S. on Thursday, June 12 via Hulu.
