Kris Marshall, star of Beyond Paradise, has hinted that a “well-loved” character will return in the new season. Marshall is best known for playing detective inspector Humphrey Goodman in the Death In Paradise spin-off.
The series follows Humphrey after he leaves the Caribbean and moves to the fictional Devonshire town of Shipton Abbott with his partner Martha, played by Sally Bretton. The fourth season is currently being filmed, and Kris has promised fans something special, according to the Express.
Yeah, it’s great, loads of great storylines, you know. We are welcoming back a very well-loved character from season one, so I can tell you that. We’ve been doing some scenes with him today. And there’s a spoiler, massive spoiler, it’s a he.
During an appearance on Morning Live on Thursday (September 11), he was asked about filming and said, Even though the story is set in Devon, much of the filming is done in Looe, Cornwall
I get to surf before work every morning. I go, even if there’s no swell, I’m just getting the water every day. Yeah, swim in it, sail on it. Of course, I should add, the scripts are great, and I love coming to work and doing this wonderful job.
When asked about the best part of filming Beyond Paradise there, Kris said, He also added
Zahra Ahmadi, who plays Humphrey’s deputy DS Esther Williams, called working on the show a “joyous” experience.
It’s an intense schedule, I’m not going to lie, and we all work long hours, cast and crew, but it’s joyous, truly.

The actress also has strong local ties, as she was born in Devon and has family in Cornwall.
I’m a real mix in many ways. So I was born in Plymouth, I grew up in Plymouth, which is Devon, but it is right on the border with Cornwall. And actually, my mum and her side of the family are from Cornwall, they’re Cornish.
Zahra explained
She said she doesn’t usually correct people on local knowledge because “that’s not my style,” but added: “I’m open if anyone has any questions, and I can answer them, I’m always open to that.”
