Warner Bros. Discovery has announced the release window for the new Game of Thrones spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Set 100 years before Ned Stark executed a deserter, the prequel tells the story of two unlikely heroes traveling across Westeros. Based on George R.R. Martin’s novella The Hedge Knight, the show stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell as Prince Aegon “Egg” Targaryen.
At Wells Fargo’s tech and media conference, JB Perrette, Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming chief, shared the expected release window for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. He said fans could look forward to the prequel in summer 2025. However, Variety reported that it might actually come out later in 2025.
With House of the Dragon season 3 not coming until 2026, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will help fill the gap between seasons. While the exact release date isn’t set, it’s almost certain the show will premiere in mid-to-late 2025. This is exciting news for Game of Thrones fans, as it means they won’t have to wait too long to revisit the world of Westeros if the series becomes another hit.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms doesn’t focus on big battles like dragons fighting or kings battling for the throne. Instead, it brings a fresh perspective to Westeros. The show explores the bond between a knight and his squire, a theme that Game of Thrones has done well with before through other unlikely duos. These stories have always been interesting and fun to watch.
Arya’s journey with The Hound is full of danger and personal growth, while Brienne of Tarth and Podrick Payne’s adventures bring a mix of humor and challenges. In Game of Thrones, many important moments happen while characters are traveling, letting us see the amazing cultures and landscapes of the Seven Kingdoms. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will follow a new duo, Dunk and Egg, and dive into their unique bond. This fresh dynamic makes the upcoming series something fans can really look forward to.
