Kit Harington wishes the cast and crew of “House of the Dragon” the best, but he doesn’t watch the show himself.
Harington played Jon Snow in “Game of Thrones” for eight seasons until it ended in 2019. While talking about his new show, the third season of HBO’s “Industry,” he told the Associated Press that he needed a break from anything related to Westeros, including “House of the Dragon.”
“I just can’t watch it,” Harington said about House of the Dragon. “I spent too much time there and wish them the best, and have heard it’s great and doing well. But I don’t think I’ll ever watch that show, and I don’t think I’ll watch ‘Game of Thrones’ again for a few years.”
In August 2021, Harington told Business Insider that he planned to watch the show to support Miguel Sapochnik, who also worked on “Game of Thrones.” However, he knew it would be emotional to watch a show that reminded him of “Game of Thrones” without being part of it. In March 2023, he told Extra TV that he watched some of the series and “loved” it, but found it hard to watch.

Harington isn’t the only “Game of Thrones” star who avoids watching “House of the Dragon.” Emilia Clarke, who played Daenerys Targaryen for all eight seasons, told Variety that she also can’t watch the prequel.
“I just can’t do it. It’s so strange and weird. It’s like someone asking if you want to attend a school reunion that’s not for your class. That’s how it feels, so I’m avoiding it.”
Harington told the Associated Press that it took him a while to move on from “Game of Thrones.” Now, he wants to try a new TV character and is excited about the first season of “Industry.“
“I wanted to play a character with a full story, not just be in one episode here or a movie there. I wanted to be part of a TV show again.”
