In a recent interview with British GQ, Kit Harington shared that the cast was completely exhausted after eight seasons of “Game of Thrones,” making it impossible to continue the show. The final season, which had only six episodes instead of the usual ten, upset many fans who felt it was rushed. Harington, who portrayed Jon Snow, understands why some people criticized the ending. However, he knew he and the rest of the cast didn’t have the energy to keep going with more “Thrones.”
Kit Harington admitted that if there was any flaw with the ending of “Game of Thrones,” it was because the cast was extremely tired and couldn’t continue any longer. He understands why some fans felt the finale was rushed, and he might even agree. However, he doesn’t think there is another option. When he looks at photos of himself during the final season, he sees how exhausted he was. He knew he didn’t have another season left in him.

Harington mentioned that “everyone has the right to their opinion” about the controversial finale. He admitted,
“I think some story mistakes might have been made toward the end. Some interesting choices didn’t quite turn out as planned.”
Jon Snow survived until the end of “Thrones,” but he wasn’t exactly happy. The last time viewers see him, he is heading into the Haunted Forest with his dire wolf Ghost and the Wildlings to start a new life. Harington once considered returning for a Jon Snow sequel series, but he confirmed earlier this year that the project had been put on hold.
Harington shared with British GQ that HBO approached him about a spinoff, and his first reaction was to say no. However, he later realized there could be an interesting story about a soldier’s life after the war. He felt there might still be something important to say but in a limited way.
Harington explained that they spent a couple of years developing the idea, but nothing really sparked their excitement. Eventually, he decided to step back, saying, “If we keep pushing this, we might end up with something that isn’t good, and that’s the last thing we want.”
The “Thrones” franchise continues with the hit prequel “House of the Dragon,” which just finished its second season and is already renewed for a third, with plans for a final fourth season. Another prequel, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” is also in the works. However, Harington recently told the Associated Press that he doesn’t watch “House of the Dragon.”
“I just can’t watch it,” he said. “I spent too much time in that world. I’ve heard it’s great and doing well, but I don’t think I’ll watch it or ‘Game of Thrones’ again for a few years.”
