Kim Kardashian shared in a recent interview that one of her sons, whom she has with her ex-husband Kanye West, has a rare skin condition. The 43-year-old mom talked about her family’s health on the SHE MD podcast with Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi and Mary Alice Haney.
In their talk, Kim Kardashian explained that she has psoriasis, which she got from her mom, Kris Jenner. She then passed a different kind of skin problem to her son.
Kim Kardashian said, “I got psoriasis from my mom, and now my son has a mild case of vitiligo.” She didn’t tell if it was Saint or Psalm.
She added, “We have it under control now. I didn’t know much about it before, but I’ve learned a lot and enjoy sharing what I know with others.”
Haney said, “It’s a blessing,” and Kim Kardashian agreed.
Kim, who also has daughters North and Chicago with Kanye West, mentioned that her kids have a bit of eczema, but she didn’t give more details about their health.
According to the National Institutes of Health, psoriasis is a long-term illness where skin cells grow too fast, making the skin itchy and irritated all over the body. Conversely, Vitiligo happens when skin loses its colour in patches that might get bigger over time, as the Mayo Clinic explains.
During the rest of the interview, Kim Kardashian talked about how she first discovered psoriasis in her 30s. She thought it was just a regular rash until her mom pointed out that it was her condition.
Kim has had a hard time treating psoriasis because it can get worse and then better in cycles. Right now, there is no known cure for it.
