Kevin Jonas is stepping away from the chance to compete for the Mirrorball Trophy, revealing the reason behind his repeated decisions to decline appearances on Dancing With the Stars.
During a Fan Questions interview with InStyle published Nov. 18, the Jonas Brothers member shared that he’s been approached for nearly two decades to join the ABC competition series but continues to pass.
“They’ve asked you pretty much every season for the last 20 years I think,” Nick Jonas asked Kevin during the interview. “Is that the deal?”
The “Changing” singer confirmed that he has consistently been invited to participate and explained why he always says no.
“For a long time, yeah,” Kevin said. “I have said no. It’s just not for me. But thank you so much. I’m a huge fan.”
Although he has no intention of competing, the A Very Jonas Christmas Movie star shared that he’s still an avid viewer of the current season, which features finalists Robert Irwin, Alix Earle, Elaine Hendrix, Jordan Chiles and Dylan Efron.
“I will say, we watch the show,” Kevin noted. “It’s very fun. I feel like it’s really back. Dancing With the Stars is fully back.”
Nick is also enthusiastic about season 34 and made his pick clear.
“It’s having a moment,” the “Jealous” singer said. “I’m pulling for Mr. Irwin.”
Kevin, however, is backing another finalist:
“And Efron. Dylan’s doing it.”
Jonas Brothers fans may hear one of the band’s songs during the upcoming semi-finals and three-hour finale next week, with Kevin hinting:
“I’m pretty sure they’re about to perform to one of our songs.”
The brothers also show off some dance moves in their new project, A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, which includes appearances from their family.
“It was great,” Kevin told E! News on Nov. 10, noting that wife Danielle Jonas and daughters Valentina, 11, and Alena, 9, appear in the film. “The first scene that we filmed of the movie was with everyone together as a family. Really got the film going strong right off the bat.”
Nick added that including their real family made the film more authentic.
“We’re playing ourselves,” Nick said, as his wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas and 3-year-old daughter Malti Marie also made cameos. “So, casting other people to be our family would not have been believable or worked. And it was just great to have them there and set the whole tone for the whole project.”
And while onscreen dancing may still be part of the Jonas Brothers’ performances, the siblings don’t plan to compete for the Mirrorball trophy anytime soon.
