Kevin Costner shared on Saturday that he’s determined to continue working on his ambitious four-part Western film series, Horizon: An American Saga.
Even though the first part didn’t do well in theaters in July, and the second part was delayed from its planned August release, he’s not giving up on the project.
Kevin Costner’s company, Territory Pictures, made Horizon, which is a big return to Western movies for him. He’s known for his famous Western films, like Open Range (2003) and Dances With Wolves (1990), which won an Oscar for Best Picture.
The first part of Horizon, which Costner co-wrote with Jon Baird, had a special premiere in May 2024 at the Cannes Film Festival. The crowd loved it so much that they clapped for over 11 minutes, making Costner cry.

The movie’s second part premiered in September at the Venice Film Festival. It was supposed to appear in theaters during the summer, but its release was delayed.
Kevin Costner, who left the popular TV show Yellowstone after four seasons, has said that work on Chapter 3 of his movie series has already started. On Saturday, he didn’t say how much progress has been made, but he promised, “I’m going to make 3.”
Costner said this project, which he first started thinking about in the late 1980s, feels like pushing the rock of Sisyphus up the mountain and sometimes like searching for proof of extraterrestrial life.
