Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are officially parting ways, but recent developments show that their bond remains amicable. The couple, who tied the knot in 2022 and split in August 2024, have now reached a divorce settlement, TMZ reports. Despite the legal end to their marriage, the two Hollywood icons have been spotted sharing warm family moments together.
Divorce Details and Settlement
The divorce settlement, mediated by the renowned Laura Wasser, ensures that both stars retain the assets they acquired individually during their two-year marriage. Ben, 52, will keep his stake in his successful production company, Artists Equity, which he co-founded with Matt Damon in 2022. The company has produced hit films like Air, The Accountant 2, and Unstoppable.
Meanwhile, Jennifer, 55, will retain rights to her own projects, including The Mother, Shotgun Wedding, and her album This Is Me… Now. Despite not having a prenuptial agreement, the settlement effectively mirrors one, with neither party paying spousal support.
The couple has also come to an agreement regarding their $61 million mansion, though the terms remain confidential. Additionally, J.Lo is dropping “Affleck” from her legal name, reverting to Jennifer Lynn Lopez. The divorce will officially be finalized on February 20, 2025, marking six months since the split.
Friendly Reunions Amid Separation
Proving that their split is anything but bitter, Jennifer reunited with Ben at his Los Angeles home on January 5. The Hustlers star was all smiles as she greeted Ben’s 12-year-old son Samuel, whom he shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner. In return, Ben shared a heartwarming moment with Jennifer’s 16-year-old daughter Emme, carrying a large wrapped gift as they left the house.
The pair also spent time together during the holidays, sharing a family dinner at Soho House in Los Angeles just days before Christmas.
Jennifer Reflects on Challenging Relationships
Jennifer has been candid about the lessons learned from her marriage to Ben. In an October 2024 interview with Interview magazine, she revealed,
You have to be good on your own. I thought I learned that, but I didn’t. And then, this summer, I had to be like, I need to go off and be on my own. I want to prove to myself that I can do that.
Speaking to Variety, J.Lo reflected on how her personal experiences helped her connect with her role in the film Unstoppable.
We both had challenging relationships, which left us holding our families together.
