Amazon founder and executive chairman Jeff Bezos set the internet abuzz after posing a simple yet loaded question: “Who’d you pick as the next Bond?” The inquiry, posted on X (formerly Twitter), came shortly after the major revelation that Amazon MGM Studios has taken full creative control of the iconic James Bond franchise.
Earlier this week, Amazon MGM Studios announced a new joint venture with longtime Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, giving Amazon the final say in creative decisions surrounding the 007 property.
Henry Cavill Fans Flood Bezos’ Replies
It didn’t take long for social media users to flood Bezos’ replies with their picks for the next James Bond. While names like Tom Cruise and James McAvoy were thrown into the mix, Henry Cavill’s fanbase quickly dominated the conversation.
Advertisement The former Superman star has long been a fan-favorite choice for the role, and supporters wasted no time posting pictures, GIFs, and clips advocating for Cavill to take over the mantle from Daniel Craig.
Cavill Almost Became Bond in 2006
Cavill was already in the running for James Bond nearly two decades ago when casting took place for 2006’s “Casino Royale.” Director Martin Campbell previously revealed that the actor gave a “tremendous” audition and was a strong contender only losing out to Daniel Craig due to his age at the time.
He looked great in the audition. His acting was tremendous. And look, if Daniel didn’t exist, Henry would have made an excellent Bond. He looked terrific, he was in great physical shape…very handsome, very chiseled. He just looked a little young at that time back then.

However, Campbell also previously downplayed the likelihood of Cavill landing the role now, noting that age could once again be a factor.
Henry’s 40, so by the time he’s done the third one, he’s going to be 50. He’s in good shape… but ironically, he was too young before, and now he might be too old.

As of now, there’s no official timeline for when the next James Bond actor will be revealed. With Amazon now holding creative power, speculation is sure to intensify over who will don the iconic tuxedo next.
