With the James Bond franchise entering a new chapter under Amazon, former Bond Girl Jane Seymour shares her thoughts on its future and her potential involvement. Last week, Amazon MGM Studios took full creative control of the series, as longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson stepped aside. Seymour, who made her Bond debut in Live and Let Die (1973) as the tarot-reading psychic Solitaire alongside Roger Moore in his first outing as 007, reflected on the franchise’s direction.
As fans and the film industry speculate on what’s next for James Bond under Amazon’s leadership, Seymour shared her perspective with People. Despite the uncertainty, she remained optimistic, believing the franchise would continue for years to come. She also expressed openness to returning in some capacity. Read her response below:
I hope they’re good. I mean, it’s an end of an era, isn’t it? I am sure it’ll do really well. I think Bond will keep going. People love Bond. It’s a great franchise.
I’ve always said I’d be very happy to be a part of it. I’m very proud to have been part of that, but I was like a really early Bond when they actually did the books. Well, maybe. We’ll see. I mean, I was very young when I did it. I was 20.
Seymour is right in viewing James Bond as a valuable asset for Amazon, but concerns about the studio’s takeover remain. Reports suggesting that Amazon aims to cast a younger Bond for a long-term deal and attract younger audiences with films designed for viral appeal have sparked skepticism. These ambitions have left some fans worried about the quality of future Bond movies.

Under the Broccoli family’s leadership, the James Bond franchise has continually evolved, with different actors and filmmakers bringing their unique vision while maintaining creative consistency. However, the series largely remained focused on standalone films. This has led to concerns that Amazon might prioritize expanding the franchise into a broader cinematic universe at the expense of the rich storytelling that defined past Bond films. Still, Seymour’s optimism may offer some reassurance to worried fans.

James Bond’s future has been a hot topic in Hollywood for years. Even before Amazon’s takeover, speculation swirled over who would succeed Daniel Craig following his definitive exit in No Time to Die. While the studio is expected to reboot the franchise with a fresh cast, many believe it will stay true to the core elements established under Broccoli and Wilson’s leadership. Seymour’s reminder of Bond’s lasting value reinforces how carefully Amazon must handle its next steps, given the franchise’s significance in the industry.
Additionally, Seymour’s interest in returning wouldn’t be unprecedented. Actors like Joe Don Baker and Charles Gray have portrayed multiple characters within the Bond universe. This opens the door for Seymour to make a comeback in a new role, which could be a welcome surprise for longtime fans.
