Married At First Sight Australia is back and, as expected, it is already full of drama. But it turns out the chaos is not limited to what viewers see on screen.
In the very first moments of episode one, one bride refused to marry her groom at the altar, while another groom shocked viewers by saying he does not like overweight women, declaring: “Fat people are a no go”.
Elsewhere, a bisexual bride to be was left wondering whether she would be walking down the aisle to a man or a woman, while another groom told his fellow contestants:
“If she’s a woke person I don’t really stand for any of that s**t.”
Even though it has only just begun, this season of Married At First Sight Australia is already being called one of the most controversial yet, thanks to alleged behind-the-scenes chaos. Sources told Daily Mail the show has become a “crisis management nightmare”, with explosive dinner parties, shock walkouts, unexpected alliances and constant drama taking over production.
Insiders also claim relationships between brides and grooms have completely fallen apart. Many have blocked each other on social media, and some reportedly refuse to even be in the same room.
“It’s that bad,” one insider told the Daily Mail on Sunday.
“Most of them have blocked each other. Exes, former friends, even people who were close during filming. Nobody wants to be in the same space, They literally cannot stand each other,” the insider said. “Nine is worried about getting them together at all. If you think the show was explosive, you should see what it’s like now the cameras are off.”
The source went on to describe the cast as extreme in every way.
“This cast is next level. Next level loud. Next level toxic. Next level fun to watch but absolutely impossible to manage. They literally got what they needed from the cast from dinner parties in a record two hours.”
The insider also revealed that one bride reportedly disappeared for fourteen hours without warning, triggering a major production emergency.
On top of that, reports claim this season’s brides and grooms were required to take weekly drug tests throughout filming after several cast members went off the rails.
The rule has never been used before on the show and meant that anyone who tested positive was immediately removed from the social experiment.
