A new series based on the world of Inside Out is coming to Disney+. On Friday night at Disney’s D23 conference, Pixar’s Pete Docter revealed that the series Dream Productions will be available on the streaming service in 2025.
“Thank you for making Inside Out 2 the top animated film of all time,” said Pixar’s Pete Docter onstage at D23 in Anaheim. “If you love the movie as much as we do, I have some exciting news.”
The series will explore the “dream factory” inside Riley’s mind. It takes place between the events of Inside Out and Inside Out 2. Pete Docter described it as an “in-betweenquel.“
“This is our first original series, and we wanted to create something fresh and daring, unlike anything we’ve done before,” said Docter.
It’s not yet clear if any characters from Riley’s mind in the Inside Out movies will show up in the series. In the films, Amy Poehler voiced Joy, Phyllis Smith voiced Sadness, and Lewis Black voiced Anger. The sequel introduced new characters like Maya Hawke as Anxiety and Ayo Edebiri as Envy, along with others.
Dream Productions will be Pixar’s second TV series, following Win or Lose, which is set to release later this year.
