Delaney joked about his co-star: “If a bus fell on you and he was there, don’t worry. He’d quickly lift it off you, and you’d be okay.”
Rob Delaney, who plays Peter “Sugar Bear” in the new Deadpool movie, was surprised by Hugh Jackman’s intense workouts to play Wolverine. Speaking on Virgin Radio UK, Delaney, 47, mentioned how amazed he was by Jackman’s solid muscles and dedication to staying fit.
“I mean, Hugh Jackman, right? He’s so ripped and muscular, always showing off his muscles without sleeves or a shirt,” Delaney said. “I used to think those superhero muscles were just for looks, but Jackman proves they’re real and shows his strength.”
Delaney mentioned how he saw Hugh Jackman doing intense workouts between filming.
“Hugh Jackman would often drop to the floor and do push-ups. I once saw him do 800 push-ups in a day, doing them slowly and with perfect form,” Delaney said. “So, if a bus fell on you and he was nearby, you wouldn’t have to worry. He’d quickly lift it off you, and you’d be okay.”
Delaney acted with Ryan Reynolds in the first two Deadpool movies. Reynolds plays Wade Wilson/Deadpool and had previously worked with Jackman in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Jackman played Wolverine in eight X-Men movies and stopped playing the character after the movie Logan in 2017.
In a joint interview with Reynolds, Jackman told PEOPLE he was “excited” to play Wolverine again, but he initially felt “a little sore”.
“But I was happy that my body was still keeping up. And I realized how good it is for your brain. The toughest part, though… was the food,” Jackman said. He mentioned that adjusting his diet to maintain his physique was the most challenging part of returning to the role.
“I have to eat a lot,” Jackman told PEOPLE. “Because of my body type, I’m naturally skinny. Putting on muscle is the hardest part for me. It’s challenging.”

“Yeah, eating five or six meals a day might sound fun to some people,” Reynolds, 47, said. “I’m sure they’d think, ‘That sounds great.’ But it’s not always enjoyable food.”
Reynolds praised Jackman’s dedication to stunts and choreography, calling him relentless.
