“It’s been a real honor and exciting experience to work with you and duel with lightsabers by your side,” Christensen said during his co-star’s induction into the “Star Wars” Walk of Fame.
Hayden Christensen is honoring “the best Jedi Master” any young padawan could hope for: his Star Wars co-star, Ewan McGregor.
At McGregor’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on Thursday, Christensen, who portrayed Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the prequels and Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka, fondly recalled their first meeting on the set of Attack of the Clones in Australia. He referred to McGregor as his “brother.”
“I walk into the room where I know Ewan is, and I hear his voice before I even see him. He calls my name with more excitement than I’d ever heard before, I turn around and see him coming toward me, and he gives me the biggest hug—a warm and welcoming embrace.”

Christensen shared that McGregor, who played Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin’s mentor, was “the nicest person” when they first talked. He told Christensen how excited he was to work with him and start their lightsaber training together.
“He was incredibly kind to me, and I quickly realized I was meeting someone really special. Not just as an actor, but as a person—and a friend, A friend who would later cut off both my legs and leave me for dead near a volcano, but I guess I kind of deserved that.”
Christensen said
McGregor laughed and looked toward the audience after Christensen’s joke. The comment referred to Anakin’s tragic end after his emotional fight with Obi-Wan in the 2005 movie Revenge of the Sith.

Christensen praised McGregor’s performance as Obi-Wan, calling it “a masterclass in acting.” He said,
“Watching him become the character is like watching real magic—not tricks, but the kind that makes you believe in something bigger. He didn’t just play Obi-Wan, he became Obi-Wan. I hope we see more of him because he’s pure Star Wars gold.”
Christensen also mentioned how McGregor honored Alec Guinness’ original portrayal of Obi-Wan while adding his depth and emotion. He said, “I was amazed the whole time.”

Christensen wrapped up by saying,
“Ewan, thank you for being the best Jedi Master anyone could have asked for. You always supported me, and I’m grateful for that. I’m so happy to be here with you today. It’s been an honor and a thrill to work with you, fight alongside you with lightsabers, and most of all, call you my friend. I love you, brother.”
McGregor also praised Christensen in his speech, saying,
“We’ve grown up in this crazy world together for so many years—20 or 30, maybe more,” he joked, “and I love you so much.”
McGregor also mentioned how special it is that his Walk of Fame star is placed just a short distance from his late Star Wars friend Carrie Fisher’s star. “I’m touched to be close to Carrie Fisher’s star here,” he said. “It means a lot to me.”
