Captain America: Brave New World is just around the corner, releasing in less than two weeks. Fans have been buzzing online, especially since this will be Anthony Mackie’s first big movie as Captain America after taking back the shield in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
People have high hopes for the film. One of the main cast members, Harrison Ford, plays Thunderbolt Ross, taking over the role from the late William Hurt. Ford doesn’t want Red Hulk to appear just once in this movie. Instead, he hopes this film will introduce the character, allowing future movies to explore his story more, according to Games Radar.
William Thunderbolt Ross has been part of the MCU since the early days, first appearing in The Incredible Hulk, the franchise’s second film. The late William Hurt played Ross for years until his passing in 2022. Harrison Ford, known for Star Wars and Indiana Jones, has now stepped into the role. His first appearance as Ross will be in Brave New World.

Red Hulk is different from Bruce Banner’s green monster, who’s known for his shredded clothes and unstoppable rage. Red Hulk is more complex, and Ford hopes future films will show this side of the character since Brave New World doesn’t give him much screen time.
At a press conference, the actor who played Han Solo shared his excitement about working on an MCU movie.
I was very happy with the opportunity to play in this playground. What an amazing group of people to work with, and what an imaginative reality. So I was looking forward to having a piece of the action.
He said,
Ford has spoken about stepping into the role of Thunderbolt Ross after William Hurt, saying he felt honored to take on the character. He believes his performance in the film honors both Hurt’s legacy and the legacy of Ross.
I’d like to think the character was a great fit for me, I was honored to be able to do my work on top of a foundation that a wonderful actor, Bill Hurt, provided for the character. And the story is a wonderful extension of the stories that Thunderbolt Ross has been part of.

Looking ahead to his future in the MCU, the seasoned actor expressed hope. Since Red Hulk isn’t the main focus in Brave New World, Ford mentioned he’d like to see more character development in future Marvel films to dive deeper into the character’s complexities.
I hope he can come back, I hope there’s a story in which he can develop into something other than the Red Hulk.
