Berry shared that Lively asked her if she would play Storm again when they chatted at a fashion show.
Another star almost made a surprise appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine. Halle Berry shared with Comicbook on Monday, Aug. 12, that Blake Lively asked if she, at 57, would return as her X-Men character, Ororo Munroe/Storm, in Reynolds’ latest Deadpool movie.
Halle Berry shared that Blake once asked her, “Would you ever be in my husband’s movie as Storm?” They bumped into each other at a Marc Jacobs fashion show. Berry replied, “Yeah, if he asked me,” but then added that he never did.
At 47, Reynolds starred in the movie, co-wrote the script, and produced it. Shawn Levy directed the film and collaborated on the script with Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells.

Berry played the Marvel superhero who can control the weather with her mind in X-Men (2000), X2 (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).
If Berry had been part of the movie, she would have returned as Storm and worked with her old X-Men co-star Hugh Jackman, who played Logan Howlett/Wolverine.
She would have also appeared with other Marvel stars, like Chris Evans as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Wesley Snipes as Blade, and Dafne Keen as X-23. Berry would have shared the screen with Channing Tatum as Gambit/Remy LeBeau and Blake Lively, 36, as Lady Deadpool.
Since the film premiered on July 26, several actors have talked about their cameos. Wesley Snipes, 61, shared with Entertainment Weekly that while he had some interesting and deep talks about returning as Blade, he has decided to move on from the Blade franchise.
Snipes said, “I didn’t think it was possible. I didn’t think we could pull it off. I didn’t think Marvel or Disney were interested.”
He continued, “It didn’t make sense to me at first, but when Ryan Reynolds calls you out of the blue after 20 years, you have to take the call. He shared the idea with me, and they said ‘yes.’ They were all in if I was. And here we are.”
Tatum, 44, thanked Reynolds for helping him bring Gambit/Remy LeBeau to the big screen.
“I thought I had lost Gambit forever,” the Magic Mike star said. “But Reynolds fought for me and Gambit. I’ll probably owe him forever because I’m not sure how I could ever repay him for what this has meant to me.”
Evans, 43, thanked Reynolds, Jackman, and Levy for including him in the movie in an Instagram Stories post.
“Reynolds, Jackman, and Levy are three of the nicest people you could meet,” Evans wrote. “A special thanks to Ryan for making it all happen. Playing Johnny again was a dream come true, and he’ll always have a special place in my heart.”
Deadpool & Wolverine is now playing in theaters.
