The filmmaker is imagining a new movie that takes ideas from ‘Godfather II.’
It took Ridley Scott 20 years to return to the Roman Colosseum with Gladiator II, but he’s already planning a third trip to ancient Rome.
“I’d rather move on to Gladiator III, There’s already an idea.” He also mentioned that he’s drawing inspiration from The Godfather Part II for the next story.
Scott told when asked about another project for the 86-year-old director.
News about Gladiator 3 first came out on Friday after the French magazine Premiere shared similar comments from Scott.

Gladiator II comes out on Nov. 22, arriving 20 years after Ridley Scott’s original Gladiator, which won five Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Russell Crowe. The new movie stars Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn, and Connie Nielsen.
Ridley Scott is still one of the busiest directors in Hollywood, sometimes releasing two films in one year. His next project is a Bee Gees biopic for Paramount, with Gladiator writer John Logan and Joe Penhall working on the script. Scott plans to start filming next year in London and Miami.

In an interesting twist, filmmaker Roland Emmerich recently mentioned that season two of his gladiator TV show Those About to Die will take ideas from The Godfather II. Emmerich likes how the 1974 film used flashbacks, while Scott wants to explore similar themes in Gladiator 3. Both Emmerich’s TV show and Scott’s original Gladiator movie are based on the same book, Those About to Die by Daniel P. Mannix.

Ridley Scott feels confident about Gladiator II,
“It might be even more amazing than the first,”
he said in April at Cinemacon, where he showed the first footage
