The Last of Us actor is ready to fight in the new Gladiator movie, but fans think something important is missing.
After winning fans’ hearts in Game of Thrones and The Last of Us, Pedro Pascal is back in the trailer for Gladiator II, but his look has caused some worries.
The Chilean-American actor appears in the trailer as Marcus Acacius, a Roman general trained under Maximus Decimus Meridius, Russell Crowe’s character from the first Gladiator.
Pascal stars with Paul Mescal, who plays a grown-up Lucius, the son of Lucilla and nephew of Commodus, the bad guy from the original movie played by Joaquin Phoenix.
The trailer mostly shows Lucius, with flashbacks of him as a kid. He returns to Rome from northern Africa to fight as a gladiator. Lucius isn’t the only one getting ready to fight. In one part of the trailer, we see Pascal’s character running into battle without a helmet, even though everyone else is wearing one.
This makes for a cool and intense scene, but if you’ve followed Pascal for a while, you know why this could be a problem.

In Game of Thrones, Pascal played Oberyn Martell, and let’s say he didn’t have a very happy ending. Martell’s head met a bad fate at the end of Pascal’s Game of Thrones storyline. So, many fans quickly shared their worries after seeing him without any protection again in the Gladiator II trailer.
“Pedro still isn’t wearing a helmet. He didn’t learn from his Game of Thrones days,” one viewer joked.
Another person commented, “Watching Pedro Pascal go into another arena battle without a helmet again.”
We won’t know what happens to Pascal’s character in Gladiator II until the movie comes out in November. Let’s hope not wearing a helmet will not cause him problems later.
In an interview with Variety, Pascal talked about fighting against Lucius and called Paul Mescal ‘Brick Wall Paul’.
“He’s gotten really strong. I’d rather be thrown off a building than fight him again, Facing someone that fit, talented, and much younger… It’s tough, man.”
Pascal said
Gladiator II will hit theaters on November 22.
