The success of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon has led HBO and George RR Martin to create many spin-offs, most prequels.
We have news from George RR Martin himself. Besides House of the Dragon and the upcoming A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, he announced at the Oxford Writers’ House that seven Thrones spin-offs are being developed. Four are animated, and three are live-action.
We think we know four of these projects: Aegon the Conqueror and Ten Thousand Ships might be live-action, while The Golden Empire and Sea Snake could be animated. But plans might have changed. Martin once said that two animated shows were cancelled, but that might not be true anymore.

It’s unlikely that all these shows will be released. Many ideas have been cancelled, like a Jon Snow sequel and another show that even filmed a pilot. Despite other issues, HBO wants to keep the quality high to make up for the disappointing ending of Thrones in Season 8. House of the Dragon seems to be doing well and might have another season after this. Read more about Kit Harington Says He ‘Can’t Watch’ The ‘Game Of Thrones’ Prequel ‘House Of The Dragon’.

Even with some complaints about the story, the viewership of House of the Dragon is growing, and HBO is happy with its success. The show follows Martin’s original material, and so will A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Other projects might have less material to work with, but Martin will help with all of them. The joke is that he is working on everything except finishing Winds of Winter, a book that may never come out.
According to George RR Martin, A few of these shows will likely be big hits. I’m especially excited about the Game of Thrones animated series. We’ve seen amazing animated shows like Arcane, Cyberpunk, and Castlevania. If the right team works on them, these shows could be fantastic.
