It’s alive! Netflix has shared a first-look picture from Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and confirmed its November release.
The image features Oscar Isaac as the scientist holding a mysterious vial. During Netflix’s “Next on Netflix” event, del Toro appeared in a recorded message, giving fans a sneak peek at some footage and showcasing his “Frankenstein” room inside his famous Bleak House in Los Angeles.
Del Toro shared how much Frankenstein means to him during the event.
This film has been on my mind since I was a child — for fifty years. I’ve been trying to make it for 20 to 25 years. In fact, some people may even think I am a little bit obsessed with ‘Frankenstein,’ And they probably would be right. You see, over the decades, the character has fused with my soul in a way that it has become an autobiography. It doesn’t get more personal than this. I hope you enjoy this small look at ‘Frankenstein.’

The footage, put together by Pan’s Labyrinth director Guillermo del Toro, shows Victor Frankenstein (played by Oscar Isaac) confronting Mia Goth, who appears as a wealthy aristocrat. It also gives a quick glimpse of Jacob Elordi as Frankenstein’s monster. He stands tall over Isaac’s bed, with long black hair, stitched gray skin, and a hint of red in his eyes.

The cast of Frankenstein includes Christoph Waltz, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Christian Convery, and Charles Dance. Del Toro, J. Miles Dale, and Scott Stuber are producing the film.
This project is part of del Toro’s ongoing collaboration with Netflix. His previous work with the platform includes the Oscar-winning Pinocchio, the anthology series Cabinet of Curiosities, and the animated movies Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans and Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia.
