The showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll says that in Found season 2, Gabi is more exposed than before because Sir is still on the loose. At the end of Season 1, Sir (played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar) escaped from Gabi’s (Shanola Hampton) basement.

While the authorities assume he has left town, the audience knows he’s hiding in Lacey’s (Gabrielle Walsh) apartment.
Sir sees Lacey as the primary person stopping him from being with Gabi, and he’s ready to fight for that. Even though Sir is out in the real world now, the primary relationship and dynamic between Sir and Gabi haven’t changed much, according to the show’s creator;
Even when he was chained up in the basement, it wasn’t always a given that Gabi had the jump on the power dynamic. It was really a back-and-forth. This man is chained in the basement, but somehow, he’s still manipulated the situation to what he wanted. It was always a power seesaw, which was so fascinating in watching Gabi and Sir’s interactions…
Further, she said:
With him out on the loose, that stays the case probably even more so. The balance of power is constantly shifting between them, whereas before, it would constantly be an emotional gameplay in mind manipulation. With him on the outside, it is shifting in physical ways and emotional ways. It’s across the board in so many more interesting ways than it was able to shift when they were in the basement. It’s the same dynamic, but a much bigger playground. Gabi might not be in the best position to help Lacey.
She told the M&A team that she had kept Sir in her basement to help solve cases, and her co-workers didn’t react well to the news.This leaves Gabi more alone than ever when the new season starts.

It’s a very tough place for Gabi. She is someone who superpower is spin and PR. She’s always worn a bit of a mask, and now it’s sort of like all of her sins are out to the people she loves most. She’s sort of laid bare, it is very tough for her, but their shared priority is to find Lacey. Their shared priority is that Sir needs to be found and contained. That allows them to keep working together, but it is not the same M&A that it was for her before.
Carroll explained
The team starts with a clear goal, but tension over Gabi’s actions will create conflict throughout the season. Part of Season 2 was watching them navigate that and watching them try to rebuild what they had before. Now that everyone’s souls are laid bare…There are moments where [Gabi] is like, ‘I deserve this. I deserve was it coming. I deserve how they’re treating me.’ And then there are moments of, ‘How many times do I have to say that I’m sorry? You either forgive me or you don’t.’ Those are the moments when the isolation gets so tough for Gabi.
Each team member will deal with what happened in their own way, and Carroll says this is a big part of Season 2. It will have lasting effects on M&A as the show moves forward.
They all have varying reactions to [Gabi’s revelation]. I don’t think it’s giving anything away to say that Margaret has one of the most visceral reactions to it. That’s a dynamic they are going to have to figure out. They are all people who believe in saving lives by any means necessary, and where their line in the sand is for ‘by any means necessary’ is different for every one of them.
Carroll revealed.
Dealing with these boundaries will be challenging and possibly traumatic for everyone around Gabi. But they’ll need to sort out their feelings before moving forward with their work. The showrunner further added;
Sometimes you don’t know where your line is until you’ve just crossed it, or it’s been crossed for you. That’s what we’re going to see the team dynamic be and figure out for each of themselves over the course of the season is ‘Where is my line in the sand, and does what Gabi did cross my line in the sand? Did it tip-toe up to my line in the sand? They are discovering it as they go and their answer to those questions determines the nature of the relationship they build going forward with Gabi and M&A.
Everyone agrees that saving Lacey is the main priority regardless of how each person handles it. But is it already too late? Find out in Found season 2, because it premieres on NBC on Thursday, October 3 at 10 p.m. ET. You can also stream the episode the next day on Peacock.
