After 14 years, a new Final Destination movie is finally here! It’s called Final Destination: Bloodlines, and fans of scary movies really like it. On Rotten Tomatoes, it got a 93% score, the best score of all the movies in the series.
The movie is about a college girl named Stefani Reyes, played by Kaitlyn Santa Juana. She discovers that her grandma had a scary dream in 1968 about a building falling. That dream returns to her, and she realizes her whole family is in danger.

A mysterious force called “Death” is coming after them because they were never supposed to be alive. Even though this sounds like other movies in the series, one movie critic says the story still feels new and exciting.
One of the franchise’s best, Bloodlines expands the lore while delivering unique and entertaining deaths. It also serves as a perfect and emotional farewell to Tony Todd.
Final Destination Bloodlines is a spectacle, a joyride, and easily the funniest iteration in the franchise.
adds Nadir Samara from Screen Rant, while MovieWeb’s own Will Sayre says in his review that Bloodlines puts all other entries in the franchise to shame. Talk about high praise, right?
Fourteen years after Final Destination 5, directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein are breathing life back into this hard R-rated cinematic universe. And Bloodlines puts most — if not all — of the previous Final Destination sequels to shame.
Bloodlines succeeds by paying homage to the earlier films’ more iconic sequences, weaving in a stupendous cameo from the late, great Tony Todd and building on the franchise with a couple of nifty twists and bloody turns.

Final Destination: Bloodlines includes one of the final performances of the late Tony Todd, who passed away in 2024. Critic Alistair Harkness from The Scotsman describes it as “a surprisingly poignant send-off for the late horror legend.” Additionally, Kristen Lopez from The Film Maven remarks that the film “reinvigorates a franchise.”
Final Destination: Bloodlines reinvigorates a franchise that…appeared finished for good. The results are an altogether mixed bag of fun and inventive kills trying to buoy up a haphazard story and selectively interesting characters. At the end of the day, this is the same Final Destination movie you’ve seen before.
Of course, the movie does have its detractors, like Andrew J. Salazar from Discussing Film, who says
Fans may come away from Bloodlines satisfied by the resurrection of the formula, but true to form, it will be because three scenes are actually interesting.
Even though it has a few flaws, Final Destination: Bloodlines is being called the best — and the goriest — movie in the series by many people. That’s exciting news for horror fans heading to theaters this weekend, especially those who love the creative and shocking deaths the series is famous for. You can find out if it’s really that good when the movie hits theaters nationwide this Friday, May 16, from Warner Bros. Pictures.
