The release date for Fallout season 2 is finally here, but there’s a twist fans need to know!
Prime Video dropped a new teaser trailer confirming that Fallout season 2 will premiere on Wednesday, Dec. 17. We already knew the new season was coming in December, but it’s nice to have the exact date. Ella Purnell is back as Lucy MacLean, with Walton Goggins returning as The Ghoul and Aaron Moten as Maximus. Kyle MacLachlan, Xelia Mendes-Jones, and Moisés Arias will also be back in Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet’s Prime Video hit.
Prime Video shared the trailer at the gamescom Opening Night Live stream.
In season 1, all eight episodes were released at once, and fans loved binging them right away. Fallout quickly became one of Prime Video’s biggest shows ever, alongside The Boys and The Rings of Power. This time, though, the release schedule is different! Instead of dropping all eight episodes on Dec. 17, Prime Video will release one episode each Wednesday. The finale will stream on Feb. 4, 2026.
That means season 2 will play out over the holidays and into early 2026.

At first, I wanted another binge release for Fallout season 2. The story is so exciting, and I always want to see what happens next. A part of me still feels that way, but now I prefer the weekly release model, especially for big shows. We wait so long for new seasons, so it’s better to enjoy them slowly and watch together. It gives us something to talk about and makes TV feel like a shared experience again, like it used to before Netflix changed everything.

Of course, I’m not against Netflix or dropping full seasons in one go. Some shows work better that way to keep the hype going. But when a show is as big as Fallout or Stranger Things, it’s worth savoring each episode!
Fallout season 2 starts Wednesday, Dec. 17. Stay tuned for more updates!
