We’re getting closer to returning to the wasteland and visiting New Vegas. Ella Purnell announced on Instagram that filming for Fallout Season 2 has officially finished. She posted a picture with her on-screen dad, Kyle MacLachlan. The filming started in November and just wrapped up, so now we can start the countdown. If the post-production follows the same timeline as Season 1, the new episodes should be out on Prime Video around spring or summer 2026.
Season 2 will mainly follow Lucy and Hank, especially after their showdown at the Griffith Observatory in the Season 1 finale. This final episode brought all three main characters together — Lucy, Maximus (a Brotherhood of Steel member played by Aaron Moten), and The Ghoul (formerly Cooper Howard, played by Walton Goggins) — as they hunted down Moldaver (Sarita Choudhury) and the cold fusion secret hidden in Siggi Wilzig’s (Michael Emerson) mind.

Lucy learns shocking truths about her father, whom she originally set out to rescue. After the others arrive, Hank escapes in a power armor suit and appears to be heading for New Vegas. Lucy and The Ghoul follow him, each searching for answers and trying to find the person behind the chaos in the wasteland.

Todd Howard, director of the game series, said that Season 2 will try to honor the open-world feel of Fallout: New Vegas, though some changes are needed to fit the new storyline created by Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet.
The show is set about 15 years after the events of New Vegas and focuses on new characters, like Lucy exploring the outside world for the first time and The Ghoul looking for his long-lost family. The fresh take that ties into the games was widely praised, bringing in record numbers for Prime Video. Walton Goggins recently told Complex that the next season takes things even further, now that the audience understands the brutal and sometimes silly world of the post-apocalypse.
Now that people understand what the world is, this story just takes it to a whole other level. I’ve been around a long time, and usually, a show that people are attracted to. With that license, the second season really starts cooking, right? That’s when some real magic can happen. It says a lot about a lot. It stays in these lanes of the tone that was kinda set but also veers outside of them in the most interesting ways.

When Fallout returns, we can expect to see some new faces. One of the most exciting additions is Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin, who will reportedly play a “crazy genius-type character.” As the premiere gets closer, more new cast members are likely to be announced. Still, fans can count on seeing many familiar faces from Season 1 returning.
The original cast included Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins, Aaron Moten, Kyle MacLachlan, Sarita Choudhury, and Michael Emerson. They were joined by Moisés Arias, Leslie Uggams, Frances Turner, Dave Register, Zach Cherry, Johnny Pemberton, Rodrigo Luzzi, Annabel O’Hagan, and Xelia Mendes-Jones.
There’s no confirmed release date yet for Fallout Season 2, but you can catch up by streaming Season 1 on Prime Video. Stay tuned for more updates as the series gets closer to making its comeback. Ella Purnell shared the news of the season wrap on Instagram, and Walton Goggins followed up by posting a video of himself removing The Ghoul’s makeup to mark the end of filming.
