Ewan McGregor shared that his biggest Star Wars regret is not being part of Andor. McGregor played the main character in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and appeared in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Andor is a prequel to Rogue One that follows Cassian Andor’s journey from a thief to an antihero who fights for the Rebellion and bends the rules.
Andor received great reviews and is considered by many as the best Star Wars project in years. Because of this, many fans are upset that the series has ended after its excellent second season. This is also unfortunate for McGregor, as he admitted he wishes he had joined the cast of Andor.

McGregor spoke about this during a panel at Fan Expo in Toronto. While talking to a crowd of fans, McGregor revealed that he recently watched Andor with his son and loved it so much that he binge-watched the entire show. Check out McGregor’s comments below:
I missed it when it came out. And I don’t know, I always come to things later. It’s just the way I am. If everybody’s talking about something, I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’ll see that later.’ And then when I watch it, you know, a year later, I’m like, ‘This is really good.’ And it was like, ‘Yeah, that’s what we were all saying a year ago.’ But I did. I watched Andor and I watched the first episode of it at home with my little boy, and then I realized what everyone was talking about. And then watched all of the whole of the first season and all of the second season just on my own without him, because I couldn’t wait to get through it all. You know, he watched bits of it with me, but I thought it was great. I really liked it.
While continuing his talk at the event, McGregor shared how much he wanted to be part of Andor after enjoying it so much. However, he admitted that he realized he had missed his chance since the series ended with its second season. McGregor then urged Disney to bring Andor back, making comments that sounded partly serious and partly joking.
And then I got really excited. I was thinking, ‘I think I’m in this timeline. I think I could be in Season 3.’ I was super excited, and then I realized, ‘Oh no.’ So anyway, maybe if there was, I could have squeezed in there, if only. There’s always a chance that maybe there’s a story that’s happening at the same time where it kind of crosses over. So there’s always a chance if Disney is listening — hypothetically, hypothetically. Come on, Disney. What are we waiting for? Let’s go! What are we doing?
Looking at Ewan McGregor’s comments about Andor and the crowd’s reaction in the video, there are two big takeaways for the show. First, it’s clear there is a strong demand for Andor to return. The audience went wild when McGregor said, “Come on, Disney.”
Second, McGregor seems genuinely eager to be part of Andor. Given his star power, the fact that he openly expressed his interest shows how much the series means. Over his career, McGregor has achieved more than most actors could ever dream of. Considering all the major projects he’s done, it’s almost surprising to hear him regret not being in a show. Still, his regret about Andor makes complete sense.
Like many Star Wars fans, I believe Andor was a true masterpiece. With that in mind, it’s easy to understand why an actor as dedicated to his craft as McGregor would want to join such an amazing series.
As a Star Wars fan myself, I also wish we could have seen an actor of McGregor’s level in Andor. The show had an incredible cast, and it would have been amazing to watch him share the screen with them.
