The HBO show Euphoria first aired in 2019 and became really popular. It stars Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Colman Domingo. However, the series has had long breaks between seasons, and one of the actors has now left the show.
In November, Storm Reid shared that she won’t be returning to Euphoria for Season 3. She played Gia Bennett, Rue’s younger sister, and their bond was an important part of the first two seasons. Fans expected Gia’s role to grow, but Storm told TMZ she’s leaving because her schedule is too packed with other projects.
I’m not, but I’m so excited to watch it, I can’t wait,
Storm Reid told TMZ when asked about not being in the next season of the show.
Reid shared what she’ll miss the most about working on the show:
Just being with the whole crew and cast has been such an amazing experience, and I’m forever indebted to the show. I’ll miss them. I’ll miss hanging out with them, but it’s going to be a good reason, and I can’t wait to watch.
Reid played Gia Bennett, Rue’s younger sister, in the series created by Sam Levinson. She explained that she’s “got stuff going on” and is about to graduate from USC.

She also shared that another reason for not returning to Euphoria is her packed schedule, including projects with her production company, A Seed & Wings. As she put it, “schedules just can’t align sometimes.”
Euphoria is always going to be a cultural phenomenon whether you like it or not, and people are going to tune in. People want to see what’s going to happen with Rue, so I’ll be there.
Reid explained that even with the long break between seasons, fans are still eager to see what happens next.
Euphoria Season 1 came out in 2019, followed by a special episode in December 2020. Season 2 didn’t air until January 2022, marking the longest break so far. Season 3 was supposed to start filming in December 2023, but it got delayed because the scripts weren’t ready. Creator Sam Levinson wanted to make sure the characters have the best story. Reports also say that Season 3 will include a time jump.

At the Golden Globes, Colman Domingo, who plays Ali Muhammed in Euphoria, shared some exciting news with Entertainment Tonight. He said,
I’m ready to get back to work. Sam’s ready to get back to work. Zendaya’s ready to get back to work, and Sydney and Jacob. Everybody’s really excited. It’s been a long time, but I feel like the band is back together again.
As of now, there’s no official release date for Season 3. Production is expected to begin this month, but no exact date has been confirmed. Realistically, the new season might not air until early 2026 since Euphoria isn’t part of HBO’s lineup for 2025.
