The actress confirms that her character, Gia, will not appear in the next season of the HBO drama.
The third season of Euphoria will continue without one of its regular characters.
Storm Reid, who played Gia Bennett, Rue’s younger sister (Zendaya’s character), shared that she won’t be back on the show. Production for season three is set to start in January, three years after season two aired on HBO.
Season two of Euphoria was one of HBO’s most popular shows in 2022, with about 16 million people watching each episode across all platforms.
The season ended on February 27, 2022. Since then, the Emmy-winning show, created by Sam Levinson, has faced several delays. One reason was that Levinson focused on another HBO show, The Idol, which also caused tension between him and Zendaya, as reported earlier this year by The Hollywood Reporter.
In July, HBO announced that season three would begin production soon. Earlier this month, Casey Bloys, the head of HBO, reassured fans that the production start date was still on track, even though rumours spread that it might be delayed.
These rumours came after Zendaya and other cast members took on movie projects. You can check out Euphoria’s cast to see who appears in season 3.
