Recently, rumors came out saying that HBO canceled Euphoria after just two seasons.
HBO has denied rumors that Euphoria was canceled before its third season, saying, “Nothing has changed.” On Friday (November 8), reports spread online that cast and crew were leaving the teen drama created by Sam Levinson, which first aired in 2019.
In a statement to The Independent, an HBO spokesperson confirmed,
After major delays and rumors of disagreements about the show’s direction, many have wondered about the future of the Emmy-winning series. Since the show began, cast members like Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney have risen to stardom, landing lead roles in other TV shows and big movies.
Sweeney starred with Glen Powell in the romantic comedy Anyone But You, while Elordi took on the role of Elvis Presley in the highly praised biopic Priscilla. He also appeared in Saltburn, a popular satire directed by Emerald Fennell.

Zendaya, the lead actor, starred alongside Timothée Chalamet in Dune: Part 2 and will also appear in the 2024 tennis drama Challengers. Even with their busy schedules, HBO executive Casey Bloys confirmed earlier this year that “the same main cast” will return for Euphoria season three.
The delay of Euphoria’s third season was expected because of the writers’ and actors’ strikes in 2023. Things were also complicated after the death of actor Angus Cloud. HBO drama head Francesca Orsi had previously said the new season was planned to air in 2025.
Levinson has shared that the new season will take place about five years after season two. He added that it will have a “film noir” style and focus on Zendaya’s character, Rue, as she deals with what it means to have principles in a corrupt world.
In its second season, Euphoria became HBO’s second most-watched show, after Game of Thrones, with each episode drawing an average of 16.3 million viewers.
