Emma Corrin, who will star in the Marvel movie “Deadpool & Wolverine,” told Screen Rant how they got ready to play Cassandra Nova, the evil twin of Professor X.
Emma Corrin found lots of research to understand Xavier’s mind.
The “Deadpool & Wolverine” star shared how they prepared to play Cassandra Nova, the evil twin sister of Dr. Charles Xavier. Previously, Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy played Xavier.
“I did watch their performances,” Emma Corrin told Screen Rant. “I was hesitant because I didn’t want to copy them and wanted to make the role my own. But seeing how they played a character with telepathic powers was interesting. I looked for parts I could use or pay tribute to, which fans would love.”
“We stayed true to the comics for Cassandra’s look, including her cap, costume, and strange fingers,” Corrin added. “You’ll also see parts of her origin story and her relationship with her brother, which drive her motivations.”
Patrick Stewart first played Professor X in the 2000 movie “X-Men,” James McAvoy played a younger character version in the 2011 reboot “X-Men: First Class.“
In the comics, Charles sensed that Cassandra was evil and tried to kill her in the womb. However, she survived, found a body, and became his dark telepathic shadow. Cassandra uses her psionic powers to get revenge on Charles.

Corrin is open to playing both twins. “Many people in interviews suggest I should play both Charles and Cassandra,” the nonbinary actor said. “That would be wild! I hadn’t considered it, but seeing Cassandra and Charles Xavier meet would be exciting. Everyone loves some family drama!”
