Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Scarlet Witch in the Marvel movies, has found that her role has opened doors to other acting opportunities. While she doesn’t join Marvel projects just for the sake of it, she feels her work with the franchise gives her some “security” to take on more minor, more daring roles.
At an event, the actress explained that Marvel helps her balance big superhero films with indie movies.

She sees it as a chance to explore riskier acting projects while still having the stability of a major franchise.
I’d never really had the mentality of ‘one for them, one for me. Marvel has been such a consistent thing I’ve been able to return to and has created — what’s the word? — some feeling of insurance in my life that has given me freedom to choose other jobs. So I haven’t felt like, ‘And then I’ll do this to do this.
the Ingrid Goes West star explained
She added that going back to Marvel for the Disney+ show WandaVision or the movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has “always felt like a choice.”
Every time, it’s character-driven. It’s always like, We have this idea, and that’s why we want you to come back. It’s not like, ‘Just throw her in something.
she explained
Olsen also said that big blockbusters and smaller indie films help each other. Big movies, like the Marvel ones, bring in money to theaters, which helps them stay open and show smaller, unique films.

She mentioned how Paul Thomas Anderson said something similar about Spider-Man: No Way Home bringing people to theaters, which made it possible for his movie Licorice Pizza to be shown, too.
I do think that’s the relationship.
She Said
Earlier this year, Olsen said she’d be happy to play Wanda Maximoff again if the right project came along.
It’s a character that I love going back to when there’s a way to use her well, and I think I have been lucky that when I started I was used well. I think people didn’t know what to do with me for a second there … if there’s a good way to use her I’m always happy to come back.
Recently, the Emmy-nominated actress starred in a sci-fi thriller called The Assessment, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September. After the premiere, Prime Video picked up the movie for distribution outside of Germany.

At Vulture Fest, Olsen shared some news about her upcoming dark comedy Love Child, where she stars alongside Charles Melton.
I’ve never hustled more for a movie that’s having a hard time being made. If you guys want to make a big, bold notice that says, ‘Todd Solondz needs money to make a movie,’ that would be great.
