Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is ready to make a comeback on a new streaming platform. The movie is inspired by the popular tabletop game Dungeons & Dragons, which was created by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson in 1974. The game has become super popular again, thanks to shows like Critical Role and Dimension 20. In 2023, Paramount Pictures released the movie to tap into this excitement. Although it didn’t meet box office expectations, its arrival on Netflix might spark interest in a sequel.
Starting February 26, you can stream Honor Among Thieves on Netflix. The movie stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Hugh Grant, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, Regé-Jean Page, and even has a fun cameo by Bradley Cooper. It tells an adventurous story set in the Forgotten Realms, where a group of clumsy thieves must steal a powerful relic from a former teammate to save the world. The official synopsis reads:
A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary roleplaying game to the big screen in a hilarious and action-packed adventure.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was a big favorite when it came out in 2023. On Rotten Tomatoes, critics gave it a strong 91% rating, while audiences liked it even more, scoring it at 92%.

Even though Honor Among Thieves got lots of praise from critics and viewers, it didn’t meet box office expectations. The film made $205 million worldwide, which wasn’t a complete failure but far less than Paramount had hoped for. As a result, plans for a new Dungeons & Dragons movie series were put on hold.

Even though Paramount isn’t interested, Chris Pine is excited about playing Edgin, the mischievous bard, in a sequel. He thinks Hasbro, which owns the rights to Dungeons & Dragons, might be planning another movie in the future. Pine shared his hopeful thoughts:
I think there’s a really good chance that we’ll make another one, because I think Hasbro owns the rights to it. I think there’s a good chance, and if they could figure out a financial way to make it work, I think they’ll do it.
For now, viewers can try their luck and catch Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves on Netflix later this month.
