Another major cast member from Denis Villeneuve’s first two Dune movies will return for the third one. Rebecca Ferguson has confirmed she will appear in Dune: Part Three.
While promoting her new film A House of Dynamite with IndieWire, Ferguson said she had already finished filming her scenes as Lady Jessica in Dune: Part Three, which began production in July.
I don’t have a big part in this one, [she’s] just barely in the book. I’m not sure I was supposed to be in it and Denis had a little idea. The script is phenomenal. It’s really hard to create a film, it’s such a dense book. There’s so much to tell. [Denis] does dip in and out and he does try and he does want to have certain connections and tentacles to the book. Whatever Denis touches I think is phenomenal.

Ferguson is now the sixth actor confirmed to return for Dune: Part Three. Her comeback follows the earlier announcements of the main stars — Timothée Chalamet (Paul Atreides), Zendaya (Chani), Florence Pugh (Princess Irulan), and Jason Momoa (Duncan Idaho) — and two months after Josh Brolin said he would return as Gurney Halleck.
New faces joining the Dune series include Momoa’s son, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, and Ida Brooke, who will play Paul and Chani’s twin children, Leto II Atreides and Ghanima Atreides. Robert Pattinson is also rumored to be in the movie, but his role hasn’t been revealed yet.

Dune: Part Three is expected to be based on Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah, the 1969 sequel to the first Dune book. However, the confirmed cast suggests Villeneuve will make big changes to the story. For example, Leto II and Ghanima are not born until the end of Dune Messiah, yet Villeneuve cast teenage actors for the roles. This has made fans think Dune: Part Three might also include parts of Herbert’s third novel, Children of Dune (1976), which features older versions of the twins — though still younger than Momoa and Brooke.

Before Dune: Part Three comes out, Ferguson will appear in A House of Dynamite, which opens in select U.S. theaters this weekend and will stream globally on Netflix on Oct. 24. The political thriller follows the U.S. government as it deals with the launch of a single nuclear missile by an unknown enemy. Ferguson stars alongside Idris Elba, with Gabriel Basso, Jared Harris, Tracy Letts, Anthony Ramos, Moses Ingram, Jonah Hauer-King, Greta Lee, and Jason Clarke also in the cast.
Dune: Part Three is set to release in theaters on Dec. 18, 2026.
