Don Lemon isn’t holding back when it comes to Megyn Kelly. The former CNN anchor took to Instagram to blast Kelly after she celebrated Joy Reid’s MSNBC exit by labeling her the “absolute worst person on television.”
Let me just say this to Megyn Kelly. In my 30-some years as a journalist and my 50-some years as a person of color: Go f— yourself, okay?
Lemon said in a direct-to-camera rant (via The Daily Beast)
Lemon Slams Kelly’s History of Attacks on Women
Lemon didn’t stop there, calling Kelly a “troll” and a “racist” while criticizing her claim that Reid frequently mocked white women on her show.
No, the worst person on television was fired from NBC and the Today show a few years ago, and that’s Megyn Kelly! That’s the worst person who’s not on television anymore. It’s you! So, hoorah for that. NBC did something good with that.

Revisiting Kelly’s Controversial Past
Lemon also pointed to Kelly’s past controversies, including her infamous 2018 defense of Blackface as a Halloween costume. He further called out her history of attacking women in the media, referencing a clip where Kelly labeled CNN’s Kaitlan Collins “extremely boring with no personality” and a “cold-hearted b—.”
“Was that really necessary?” Lemon questioned. “And how is that supportive of women? Now, she could’ve given some advice and said, ‘Hey, you need to somehow establish a bond or connection with your audience.’ She doesn’t have to call the woman a B.”
He then reflected on his former friendliness with Kelly, but noted, When people show you who they are, you better f—ing believe it, because we should’ve known.
Joy Reid’s Exit Sparks Backlash
Reid’s abrupt departure from MSNBC has triggered strong reactions, not just from Lemon, but from her own network colleagues. Rachel Maddow publicly criticized MSNBC’s decision, calling it a “bad mistake” and slamming the network for cutting “two non-white hosts in primetime,” referring to both Reid and Alex Wagner.
While MSNBC has not publicly commented on the decision, it’s clear the debate over Reid’s exit—and the heated exchange between Lemon and Kelly—is far from over.
