Get ready for Doctor Who to hit the big screen once again!
BBC Studios and CinemaLive have revealed that the two-part finale of Ncuti Gatwa’s second season, Wish World and The Reality War, will be shown in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on 31st May.
Meanwhile, The legendary Gallifreyan’s next adventure will arrive as ‘Lucky Day’ (Doctor Who Season 15, Episode 4) drops on BBC this Saturday, 3rd May 2025. Expect the return of Millie Gibson’s Ruby Sunday, UNIT, and, hopefully, Anita Dobson’s Mrs. Flood! Viewers outside the UK can also watch the show by using a VPN to access. Natasha Spence, Events Director at BBC Studios, shared:
We’re delighted to be partnering with CinemaLive once again and give Doctor Who fans across the UK and Ireland the opportunity to watch their favourite show together. This finale promises to be an amazing ride for Whovians, and we’re excited to share the Doctor and Belinda’s latest adventures with them on the big screen.
John Travers, Head of Acquisitions & Distribution for CinemaLive, stated:
Following the success of last year’s midnight cinema event, we’re excited to be working with BBC Studios to ensure that this time round Doctor Who fans of all ages are able to share in the epic experience of watching the two-part season finale on the big screen.
This season, episodes of Doctor Who have been released on iPlayer at 8am before airing on BBC One later that same day. It’s been speculated that the finale episode will not have an early release, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Details about the two-part finale are still scarce, but we do know that the Doctor will confront a force that threatens reality itself. Additionally, we can expect to finally learn the true identity of the mysterious Mrs. Flood (Anita Dobson).

Wish World and The Reality War are both written by Russell T Davies and directed by Alex Sanjiv Pillai.
So far this season, we’ve followed the Doctor as he works to get his companion Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu) back home, though an unknown force is preventing them from returning to Earth on 24th May 2025.
The announcement comes after Doctor Who’s last big-screen event, where the 2024 finale two-parter was shown in cinemas across the UK, with the Doctor confronting an old foe, Sutekh. Will he face another familiar enemy, or will a new threat emerge this time? Only time will reveal the answer.
Doctor Who returns next Saturday (3rd May) on BBC One, with new episodes streaming from 8am on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
