Doctor Who Season 2 is now well underway, with the first two episodes, “The Robot Revolution” and “Lux,” kicking off Russell T Davies’ second full season of his new era on a high note. However, only six episodes remain, as this season features a shorter run of just eight episodes compared to the longer seasons fans were used to before the Disney+ era. Like 2024’s Season 1, these opening episodes have been packed with vibrant visuals, excitement, and even the introduction of a new member of the Pantheon. But the upcoming third episode, “The Well,” is set to shift the tone, offering a darker, more intense story much like last year’s “Boom.”
This shift was teased by one of the guest stars, Christopher Chung, who appears in the episode alongside Rose Ayling-Ellis, Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor, and new companion Belinda (Varada Sethu). In an interview with Radio Times, Chung, who admitted he had been auditioning for Doctor Who for years, hinted at what could be one of the most thrilling episodes yet. “I can’t tell you a lot… but I play a space trooper called Cassio,” the Australian actor revealed, before adding:
The Doctor [Ncuti Gatwa] arrives on our spaceship as we’re about to land on a planet to do a mission, because a colony has stopped communicating with us. And then a lot of mayhem ensues. I’ve been told that it’s the most secretive episode of the season.
‘Doctor Who’ Season 2, Episode 2 Was a Return to Form for the Series
Season 2’s premiere, “The Robot Revolution,” divided fans, with opinions split across the board. However, the second episode, “Lux,” seemed to bring everyone back together, earning widespread praise for Gatwa’s latest adventure aboard the TARDIS. In this story, The Doctor and Belinda travel to a 1950s theater, where they face an unusual 2-D villain in Alan Cumming’s Mr. Ring-a-Ding. “Lux” masterfully blended colorful, whimsical moments with an underlying sense of menace, as a cartoon character quickly turned into both an earworm and a nightmare.
Doctor Who Season 15, Episode 3, titled The Well, is now on BBC iPlayer. If you’re in the US and don’t want to miss the Doctor’s next big adventure with Bel? use a VPN, connect to a UK server, and you’re all set! Check out our top VPN picks for BBC iPlayer now!
Many have hailed the episode as one of the strongest in modern Doctor Who, praising its vibrant storytelling, emotional depth, and the way it weaves in more Pantheon lore while celebrating the magic of filmmaking. Whether this strong run continues will be revealed with the next episode, “The Well.”
