The latest ratings are in for Doctor Who season 15’s fourth episode, Lucky Day, which focused on Ruby Sunday and ended with a dramatic cliffhanger that kept fans hooked.
The legendary Gallifreyan’s next adventure as ‘Lucky Day’ (Doctor Who Season 15, Episode 4) available to watch on BBC. Expect the return of Millie Gibson’s Ruby Sunday, UNIT, and, hopefully, Anita Dobson’s Mrs. Flood! Viewers outside the UK can also watch the show by using a VPN to access. The story followed Ruby (played by Millie Gibson) as she tried to build a new life after her travels with the Doctor. But things took a shocking turn when her boyfriend Conrad (Jonah Hauer-King) was revealed to be a cunning con artist spreading wild conspiracy theories and aiming to take down UNIT.
Airing on Saturday, 3rd May at 7:10pm on BBC One, the episode drew an overnight audience of 1.5 million viewers.
The current viewership number isn’t consolidated and doesn’t include BBC iPlayer, where the episode was released earlier at 8am on Saturday, ahead of its BBC One airing. The full consolidated figure, which includes catch-up and streaming on other devices, will be released later.

Many fans are expected to catch the episode on iPlayer in the coming days, so the overnight figure doesn’t reflect the full picture or modern streaming habits. Still, it marks the lowest overnight rating of the season so far.
Previously, Lux held that spot with 1.58 million viewers.
That said, Lucky Day was still BBC One’s third most-watched show on Saturday night, behind Hit List’s Celebrity Special and Casualty. Overall, it was a quiet night for ratings across the channel, with no show reaching the 2 million mark.
The synopsis for Lucky Day reads: “Ruby Sunday faces life back on Earth without the Doctor. But when a dangerous new threat emerges, can Ruby and UNIT save her new boyfriend Conrad from the terrifying Shreek?”
Along with Ruby’s return, the episode also revealed how the Doctor ended up searching for Belinda and featured a special cameo from an iconic character.
Writer Pete McTighe previously discussed the focus on Ruby, saying:
Of course, the Doctor is in the episode, in a very significant way, but really Lucky Day is Ruby’s story. I love what Millie Gibson did in her first season, so being able to come in and develop her character even further was really exciting.
Throughout all of Doctor Who – with the exception of Sarah Jane Smith – we’ve never really explored what happens to someone after they stop travelling with the Doctor, and how those adventures impacted them. I loved being able to delve into that aspect of the character.
Doctor Who returns next Saturday (10th May) on BBC One, with new episodes streaming from 8am on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
