BBC’s new adventure reality competition series, Destination X, premiered to strong numbers, drawing over 6.7M viewers so far, including an average of more than 1M under-35s.
This marks the biggest new unscripted launch across the market this year, as well as the BBC’s most successful new Factual Entertainment debut since records began in 2022.
So far, the series has reached almost 16M viewers, showing its ability to bring audiences together for must-watch BBC content and cementing its place as one of the year’s standout Factual Entertainment successes. BBC Commissioning Editor, Michael Jochnowitz, said:
It’s fantastic to see Destination X become the talk of the summer and now boasting the biggest launch across the entire unscripted market this year. We couldn’t be happier for Rob Brydon, our brilliant cast, and the whole production team at Twofour.
Audiences at home were also able to join in through the interactive Destination X online game, where players earned clues and made predictions by placing their X on the map alongside the contestants. To date, 366k users have registered, making it the most successful game of its kind.

Set against an extraordinary journey across Europe—where nothing is quite as it seems—Rob Brydon acts as games master, guiding carefully chosen contestants aboard the X-bus and asking them a single, crucial question: where the X are they?
With the windows blacked out, contestants must rely on deduction to guess their location. At the end of each episode, they place an X on the map. The closest guessers stay on the bus, while the furthest is eliminated. Ultimately, one winner claims a £100,000 prize.
Each episode sees Rob lead the adventurers on a thrilling new leg of the journey, transforming Europe into a giant board game filled with surprises at every turn. Challenging tasks reveal valuable clues for sharp players, but both contestants and viewers must stay alert—because red herrings are always in play.
