Netflix is heading back to Edinburgh with more of Dept. Q.
The streamer has renewed the Scotland-set crime drama, starring Matthew Goode and created by Scott Frank (The Queen’s Gambit), for a second season. The news comes about two and a half months after the show debuted with strong reviews and solid viewership.
Based on Jussi Adler-Olsen’s novels, the series follows Detective Chief Inspector Carl Morck (Goode), who runs a small unit investigating cold cases from a basement office in Edinburgh. The cast also includes Alexej Manvelov, Leah Byrne and Jamie Sives.
Dept. Q stayed in Netflix’s global top 10 English-language series for six weeks, logging 222 million hours watched, equal to about 27 million complete viewings.

In the U.S., it earned 47.57 million viewing hours over four weeks in Nielsen’s streaming top 10.
Frank writes, directs and executive produces the series. Bullock and Charlotte Moore also serve as executive producers, while Mona Qureshi and Manda Levin oversee the show for Netflix.
