DC Studios is developing The Brave and The Bold, a new Batman movie, as part of its rebooted DC Universe. With several Justice League heroes getting fresh starts, fans are eager to see who will take on the role of the Dark Knight. As excitement builds, many are speculating about potential actors for the part, and one name that keeps coming up is Alan Ritchson.
During a recent WIRED Autocomplete Interview, Ritchson responded to the popular question, “Is Alan Ritchson playing Batman?” He admitted that while he would love to take on the role, the rumors aren’t true—at least for now.
To entertain fans, he even demonstrated how he would sound as Batman with a deep, intense voice. However, the official casting for The Brave and The Bold is still unknown, leaving audiences eagerly awaiting an announcement.
What’s amazing to me about this rumor of the Batman desire and the zeitgeist, is the fact that James Gunn has personally announced publicly on his Twitter or X or whatever, LOL, he’s not playing Batman. He is not playing Batman! And this thing will not die. I get asked every day if I’m playing Batman. Yeah, would I play Batman? Yes. Would I pay handsomely to be Batman? You wouldn’t even have to pay me to be Batman. I would, yeah, I would don the suit. [Said in his Batman voice] Gotham is mine. Look at that. I don’t even have to practice. It just comes out naturally.
At a recent DCU press event, James Gunn and Peter Safran confirmed that Robert Pattinson’s The Batman movies will stay separate from the new DC Universe. While the script for The Brave and The Bold is still being written, DC Studios has made it clear that they will choose a new actor to play Batman in the DCU.

The casting for Batman in the DCU hasn’t started yet, but Alan Ritchson has been a fan-favorite choice for a while. His career has been growing, especially with his lead role in Reacher on Prime Video, so it’s no surprise that many people want to see him as the next Batman. Even though James Gunn hasn’t confirmed any interest in him yet, Ritchson clarifies that he wants a shot at the role.

Many believe Ritchson would be an excellent choice for Batman because of his action skills and experience. Since he’s in his 40s, he fits the age range for the more experienced Bruce Wayne that The Brave and The Bold will feature. The movie will explore Batman’s life with an established Bat-Family and his father-son relationship with Damian Wayne, making Ritchson a strong candidate. However, until the casting officially begins, fans will have to wait and see if he lands the role.
Alan Ritchson’s recent comments show that he is serious about wanting to play Batman. He has already played superhero roles in the past, but taking on the Dark Knight would be his most significant role yet. When The Brave and The Bold starts auditions, fans hope he will at least get to prove himself as Gotham City’s protector.
