Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane announced today that filming has officially started on “Crystal Lake,” the upcoming Friday the 13th TV series from Peacock and A24. The show is an expanded prequel to the famous slasher franchise. Interestingly, the series is being filmed under the fake title “Mama’s Boy,” which feels fitting!
Brad Caleb Kane shared a behind-the-scenes photo on Instagram this afternoon, writing, “Production Day 1. It’s real, folks.” More updates are expected soon.

The episode currently being filmed is directed by Michael Lennox (Derry Girls), with Maceo Bishop (The Curse, The Watcher) as the cinematographer.
Linda Cardellini stars as Mrs. Voorhees, the original killer from the 1980 Friday the 13th film. The cast also includes William Catlett (Abigail), Cameron Scoggins (Nashville), Devin Kessler (Godfather of Harlem), and Gwendolyn Sundstrom. Scoggins will play Dorf, the police officer originally played by Ron Millkie in the classic film.
